Climate Change

, posted: 20-Oct-2009 12:24

Recently walking down Newmarket I came across some people asking me to sign a petition to support massive cuts in the CO2 produced by New Zealand of around 40%.

The Sign on petition is fronted by actors and not scientists or people’s opinions that we should actually take seriously.

How ironic, that actors are used to spread the “truth” about climate change. However someone might want to let these actors know about the inconvenient truth that the world has been very naughty lately and is not heating up, but has actually been cooling down since 1998.

I guess that’s why they are now calling it ‘climate change’ and not global warming – have you noticed that they have changed the terminology? Now any crappy weather can be attributed to it – are these guys smart or what?

WHY when people like me raise points for discussion are we immediately labeled ‘climate change deniers’ – burn me at the stake how dear you say the world is round?

There is a massive political agenda to push climate change down our thoughts, and so far the mass have bought it hook line and sinker. But slowly people are starting to wake up to what is really going on – 4c a litre TAX on gas to save the world, what a deal!

They have finally found a way to tax the air we breathe and unlimited amount of taxes can be applied to food, industry and travel in the name of global warming err um sorry climate change.

Like most people you only take on the data that's important to you, Data that points maps up with your personal view.  One report matches your view and that science is gospel and you disregard the hunders of other scientists that don't match your beliefs.

Man has an effect on the world, that can't be denied, man is not an inert element, man is a catalyst.

Today we live in a time of denial, it's not out problem and it wont be, we will comusme and die and the people of the future will be left to manage our mess.

Everyone should try to do a little at least and a little more tax never hurt anyone and it's a good start.

Of course he uses examples of people that agree with him, that's how you back up your argument.  If you disagree, it's up to you to come up with proof to back up your reasoning.

Also, let's not have any more tax, I'm sick of losing a good proportion of my earnings to the Government.  The harder I work, the more I earn, the more I pay in tax. Yay for me.

The problem is the Greens are fighting for Climate Change schemes because they believe that will save the world

- the politicians are fighting for climate change schemes because they want to control the world.

As my Chinese sales rep says 'same same but different'

My opinion is the whole thing is cooked up in order to introduce schemes such as the ETS with minimal fuss from the public because it's for the good of the planet.  What a crock.

Airlines buying credits isn't going to reduce the amount of their emissions one iota.  Nor taxi companies or electricity or whoever.

http://www.climatedebatedaily.com/ is a good place to read articles from both sides of the coin.  I particularly liked one pro global warning article in which the author sets about debunking the debunkers.  During the course of this he refers to a time when he says sea levels were 70m higher than now and more recently (during the last glaciation were 130m lower.

The particular section in question describes as "mostly true, but irrelevant" the assertion that "Climate change has been happening throughout geological and human history. What is happening now is not outside the bounds of natural climatic variability."  Irrelevant?? Yeah, ok...

The same article also notes an upwards global temperature change of <.8°C over the last 38 years.  Global warming - yes, but hardly significant.  Climate change - indisputable.  Funny thing is, the climate's been changing since the planet was born...

I think people are really loosing sight of the fact that regardless of if climate change happens naturally (and I think pretty much every agrees that it does) that this is not an excuse to say oh well there has been minor warming and cooling in recent history so why should we care. The fact of the matter is that the effects of cooling or heating, even in the last 500 years, are in no way representative of the likely effects in today's much more populated world with its significantly different population distribution and intensive farming.

The fact of the matter is that any climate change is likely to be disruptive to what is now a significantly more complex, globalized civilization.

In addition the use of combustion for energy generation does result in both particulate and gaseous matter which are damaging in some degree to both local and environments further afield. Sure you can argue acid rain sometimes occurs naturally due to geological events, or you get dangerous particulate matter through the same but that's not really the point is it. Pompeii wasn't really foreseeable at the time (at least up until very close to the event), several million cars in your city pumping our NOX emissions most certainly is.

"The harder I work, the more I earn, the more I pay in tax."

I would argue that the less you earn the harder you have to work to make ends meat.

The IPCC is political, not scientific.
Man's affect on the Earth's environment is negligible, compared to the Sun.
Sun spot activity explains the recent cooling.
Climate Change is about socialist government telling you what you may do.
Wake up and throw the Greens out of power.
