Petrol Prices up yet again

By Gary R, in , posted: 4-Apr-2007 13:24

Another 6 cents a litre just in time for Easter. I can imagine that this latest increase will net the oil cartel millions of dollars in additional revenue over the holiday weekend.

The excuse being given is that the 'exchange rate is not rallying as expected'... What? At 9am this morning it was .716USD to 1NZD.

Is this 6c in addition to the 2c yesterday?

Ahh it's actually only a 2c increase for most of the country - Auckland has had petrol 4c cheaper than the rest of NZ for several weeks.

I heard it on the radio news. Caltex up 6 cents p/litre.

The increase was actually yesterday afternoon. 6c in Auckland, 2c for the rest of the country for Petrol and 5c litre in Auckland and 3c per litre elsewhere for Diesel.

It's funny how Auckland could have petrol 4c cheaper than elsewhere due to a "competitive market" yet it can suddenly increase 6c with our $ at it's highest point for a long time.

Remember Aunty Helen took another .69c in tax starting on the weekend as well due to the annual inflation adjustment on the 1st April.

Aunty Helen should PAY IT BACK

Or she will get a smack from Aunty Sue!

This is just another ploy. They put it up again, and then will have a 1 day easter price drop - they get good press for a generous 1 day offer and then the week after the price will start to rise again.
