Because iPhone does not have 3G Apple are saying that YouTube instead works really well using the phone's short range WiFi connection.
What is the point. Its mobile YouTube as long as you are not 'mobile'. Personally, I think their decision not to have 3G capability at launch is incredibly short sighted and so last century.

While I agree that the lack of '3G' is certainly going to be a drawback for the iphone, I fail to see why everyone is getting worked up about this. We have people here at geekzone covering it in a most negative light, we have people on slashdot either hating it or making fanboy clubs, and we have various other groups trolling it too.
Its just another phone at the end of the day. We don't give the same amount of attention to other handsets, whether its HTC, Nokia, Sony Ericcson, or RIM.
Instead, because its made by Apple (popular target here obviously) and that its Apples first phone, they get trolled to hell with comments about how crap it is, how various management have been smoking pot etc. Strangely enough we don't have much trolling of the Zunes short comings - ie. its currently useless wifi, its breaking of microsofts so called 'plays for sure' standard etc (which has been brought up in reviews as being short comings).
As discussed above, having no high speed cellular data is a short coming no doubt considering todays environment. I would probably recommend before trashing it completely to at least review it.

Ummm, we're in New Zealand not US. The reason the iPhone does not CURRENTLY have 3G is because 3G is not widely available in the States and the iPhone is only being released in the States for the time being.
Come later in the year it will be available in Europe (sold via Vodafone no less) and WILL be 3G.
It irks me somewhat that A). it hasn't been released yet and only a few people have one so who is everyone else to make stupid speculative comments on a device that isn't out yet B). people complained that Apple SHOULD make a cellphone and now that they HAVE they're complaining about it but... see point A).
Frankly from what I've seen of the iPhone this thing is going to kick some serious butt. I NEED this phone simply because it gives me the ability to become mobile without the need for a laptop. It's a FULL computer operating system which NO phone other than the iPhone has. As such it communicates on a level that no other phone can.
I will certainly be plonking down my $whatever it is in New Zealand for one of these devices. Especially if the rumours about iWork are true.
