For some time, I have wanted to get my hands on a 3G phone so that I don't have to put up with the pain of using GPRS when I'm away from home and outside of Woosh's far from expansive coverage. I have always believed that camera phones would be great if they were good enough to replace a standalone camera, but a complete waste of time otherwise. In the eight months that I have owned my Motorola V500, I have never used its integrated VGA camera for anything other than testing purposes, but it would be a totally different story if I had a phone with a 3 megapixel camera and a decent flash. On odd occassions when I travel out of town, I rely on GPRS to maintain access to the Internet, which is very slow compared to the broadband connection that I use at home. When visiting macrumors.com this morning, I couldn't help but notice yet another article carrying speculation that Apple will inevitably release a phone with their brand name on it at some stage in the next year. Speculation about this has existed for a very long time, and there is no sound reason to believe that anything in the next 12 months will prompt Apple to launch such a product.
