Transparent IM logging

, posted: 19-Oct-2006 15:14

I found an interesting application today. It's called IMSpector and is Linux software which can transparently log nearly all instant messaging traffic on a network (MSN, ICQ, AOL etc). This could be useful in cover-your-ass-type corportate policy and many other situations.

This isn't exactly hot off the press technology in fact, specialised packet sniffers have been able to do this for quite some time. The innovation here is powerful logging features; all chats can be logged to a MySQL database, which opens up many oppourtunities.

If you would like consultancy or help using this software on your network please feel free to PM me (on geekzone) or email me on the link from my website.
