Next Gadget for Rewarding One-self

, posted: 14-Sep-2006 22:03

Soon I will need to decide what new gadget i may be getting in a small reward for the progress of the year so far. So far I have gotten suggestions and recommendation to get a Core Duo/Core 2 Duo laptop, and I have nailed down to two models that I would like pending the budget side (either HP dv6030tx or HP dv9020tx). However, now is a funny period to decide on which laptop to go for especially in short few months, Windows Vista will be out soon, and I don't think any OEM now will offer a "free" upgrade to Windows Vista at the moment if you make a purchase of any laptop. So the outcome to get a new laptop in this short one month period may be very slim. This bring me back to the "drawing board" to see what gadget that I can get to reward myself a little bit. The options now may be an Imate JasJam (if it gets here!), TabletKiosk eo i7210 or Xbox360, or Toshiba s30 PMC, or bank it. So far, my heart is leaning towards TabletKiosk eo i7210. Why? Wel.. it has added plus for being a full-blown OS running Windows XP Tablet PC with TouchPak, which allow me to run Outlook in full, and the "assurance" of having all my files and media with me while on the move. It is relatively small and looks pretty cool. And pair it with Vodem, I can basically get my daily email catch up and messaging anytime, anywhere. Though it will mean I need to implement a way to "hide" Vodem, but I got a brilliant idea, velcro will be my friend and using the USB cable to connect the two together while act as the antenna for HSDPA connection. SWEET! All these sounds great on blog, next step is to make it happen! So stay tuned, and watch this blog. Someday I will be blogging from my UMPC, maybe... *please let it happen*

The UMPC is an interesting device. And they actually look good. Add a docking station and a keyboard and it's not a bad alternative for a small office/home office and media companion.

Yeah, the more i look at the i7210, the more it fits into my usage. I got a nice MCE pc, and laptop, but i want something that is more portable and slightly more powerful than pocketpc. UMPC will fit that gap, no doubt.
