SD Card Reader on Windows Vista RC1
Anyhow, We pretty much got that "sorted" as described in this forum post [Vista on Compaq Presario x1030AP].
BUT What about the SD Card reader? I discovered that Vista will allow you to install XP's driver, with warning. Which mean, most of the driver for the older hardware "should" install fine, as they will be installed as User Mode driver (which is a safer approach to move everything away from Kernel Mode driver).
So for the likes of me using Compaq x1030AP which has Winbond SD Card reader, you will need to apply this SoftPaq from HP's site. Winbond SD Card Reader Software. Just download it and install as per on Windows XP/2000.
As for NX7010/NX7000 users, I have tried searching on HP's site for the SD Card reader driver, it seems they don't have it listed. From the specification, NX7010.NX7000 is an HP's branded of Compaq x1030AP, so I'm pretty confident that you can try using Compaq's driver on it. AS LONG AS IT IS A WINBOND SD CARD READER.
So good luck!

I successfully installed the Winbond SD driver for WindowsXP from SoftPaq 24430 to Windows Vista RC1 (build 5600) on my Compaq nx7010 as described by "chiefie" using the "wbsd.inf" rather than "setup.exe"
The drive will format my 2GB SD-Card down to 950MB, but then works fine.
So thanks!

Oh! Last night when I did an installation for Vista Pre-RTM build 5728, I discovered that SoftPaq does not want to install as it complained it cannot find the OS Version. A workaround is to use manual driver update, and point to the folder where SoftPaq has extracted the content to (you do know where that is located, right?)
So once again, good luck and enjoy.
p/s: 5728 is speedy! But for some reason, it causes my poor x1030AP not to hibernate properly. Haven't tried sleep mode.
