My secret admiration for...

... Ipod Touch. Before anyone calling me an hypocrite... I like technology and gadgets that work towards my favour and my needs... I have Creative PMC and when it first came out, it suits my need and I was very much in love with it. (I still do though). Seeing its potential to sync with Media Centre PC was a huge bonus in my book. However PMC development seem to have scaled back to near non-existence, though Toshiba been keeping it alive, just faintly. Much of PMC's gut been Zune-fied, but out here in this part of the corner... We don't get our Zune that soon... we'd be lucky to get in say... 2008?! With the ever changing of technology and gadgets and different options of sharing media files... it gives consumers more option (and also the same time, more gadgets to get confused over with). There are converters to convert DVR-MS (from Media Centre) to h624 (MP4) or DIVX etc... WMA to MP3 or AAC etc... Today, Apple launched Ipod Touch, which resemble Iphone in many ways, except without phone radio/module. When I first saw Iphone, I said to myself "I'm not getting it, unless it is just a multimedia device... I have no need for its phone part". Well almost like a prayer answered (but not hugely a surprised shock) that Ipod Touch came into its existence. All I can say to Apple is, "Good move!". Shame, I have a huge optimistic hope for Microsoft to bring Zune to us, but as usual... we missed out on awesome offer (which they repeatedly keeping their offering to USA only)... From today's lesson, looks like I'd give in to Apple and finally bite the Ipod bullet and be getting Ipod Touch. What I may not look too forward to is... re-ripping my CDs into AAC format (from my WMA collection)... or unless Itunes can play non-DRM WMA without conversion, then I'm so-sold and ready...

I've just been told by the GF that I'm not allowed another toy! :-)

Poor you mate.. I don't think my partner would be too happy if I jumping around saying "Woohoo.. I want Ipod Touch!" Recently, I've been trying to find an excuse to get my partner upgrade to WM5 device (from the old HP H6315 WM2003)... I thought I may had a chance when on Tuesday, we were unable to send TXT from it - due to some outage with Vodafone apparently. *bummer* Then I've talked about getting two Nintendo DS for each other for casual gaming... my partner was partial to that idea... so it may be our Christmas presents to each other... Now, with Ipod Touch announced... my hyperwant for it may be a bit overwhelm for my partner to handle... I think I may get a "NO"... and at NZ$650 for 16GB, that's not cheap... NZ$650 is probably: 3x Nintendo DS, or 1x XBox360 Premium, or ~100x McDonalds' combo meal, or 6 new releases games, or paying off handful of bills and debts. Hmmm...

I always used the PDA in "touch screen" mode by using my fingertip. The old Qtek has the best respoding screen though... The biggest hate of the N95 is the reliance on the keypad to do everything.

I really have taken a liking to WM6, the Today screen is fantastic for finger based navigation.
I never liked WM5 so deliberatly skipped it totally.

I'm not hitched so have this incredible freedom! (apart from when the money runs short occasionally)
