WM6 is coming to imate Jasjam!

, posted: 12-Sep-2007 11:08

This is a huge "hooray" from me! I came across this news from PocketPC Thoughts, and what a great positive feeling I had... For a while, I let my heart sank and slowly biting in the possible reality that imate is ignoring us all in the kiwiland... Looks like my doubt set me wrong.
"We appreciate your loyalty towards I-mate as a customer, we are going to launch the ultimate series in September, and we are currently testing windows mobile 6 for our devices, as soon we are through the testing we will release an update for existing devices and announce for the same." "Yes JASJAM is amongst those devices for which WIN 6.0 is compatible."
Also hinted, is that Ultimate series "should" be coming to New Zealand/Australia in September!

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for this release.  I have a feeling the newer machines well overtake i-mate's will to release WM6 for any of its older units.  Similar things have been mentioned in relation to the JasJar and nothing has yet eventuated

Hey it was me that posted that to PocketPC Thoughts based on an email exchange I had with iMate at the time. Over the last few days I've been chasing it up and have been promised some information / an announcement really in the next couple of days. Chances are I'll post any more responses here and on ClubImate

I think imate is winding down any update to any of the HTC-manufactured devices as it seem... very very quiet in that front. So don't expect to see the official WM6 release, however if you're daring enough, there are some cooked ROM that many claimed it's working fine. I'm gonna leave my JasJam as it is as I'm moving forward to next phone in coming few months or so.
