TCL LightSpeed 40GB at <4.5Mbit downstream
Rant, posted: 25-Nov-2006 14:06
Just earlier this week, I decided to upgrade my TelstraClear cable internet from HighSpeed 20GB which has 4Mbits downstream/2Mbits upstream speed. However, the day after the request when the plan should be LightSpeed 40GB with 10Mbits downstream/2Mbits upstream, my speed immediately dropped to 2Mbits/2Mbits. This is evidented from the Speed Test with Auckland server.
This is before the request for LightSpeed 40GB/10/2 kicked in [HighSpeed 20/4/2]:

Imate website updated!
Website, posted: 21-Nov-2006 07:57
Hmmm... this comes as a good surprise!
Club Imate (or Imate official website) must have been updated recently. The layout has changed and it looks a lot nicer and more "business", compare to the previous look and feel which seems like a simple amatuer web designer's quick job.
Anyhow, I came across this when I read that Imate is about to release JAQ3 and PDAL but their information is not mentioned anywhere on their updated site... so we'll stay and see.

RipIt! Don't rip it off!
Website, posted: 16-Nov-2006 23:56
No... it's not encouraging anyone to rip music but purchase it from the site. And of course the music you buy from RipIt will be DRMed, and the format they support are WMV and WMA only. So Ipod users will have to burn it and rip it... (hmmm isn't that catch-22?)
Of course, there are other requirement, IE6 browser and Windows Media Player 9+.
I saw this at Dick Smith Electronic today... I wonder how well it is, or how big is its library. (read the entire post)...

New IE7 Broke CSS Width.
Technology, posted: 9-Nov-2006 07:38
This is rather interesting, while some web developers have welcomed IE7 with most of its effort stepping up its CSS 2.1 supports, however it did so along the way by breaking CSS's width property.
How so you asked? Well if you have IE7 and know a bit of HTML/CSS, try this:
With any HTML element, or just try DIV, then apply "width:100%;" as its CSS style and see the result.
What happened is that, when width:100%; is present, IE7 will "shrink" the box size dow (read the entire post)...

Microsoft's Featured VHDs

Seeing that both Virtual Machine software companies (Microsoft and VMWare) are battling out at each other and even went as far as "freeing" their Virtual Machine software (Virtual PC 2004, Virtual Server 2005 R2, VMPlayer etc) to kick start the virtualisation appliances/usage.
I used to use VMWare up to v4.5 and then tried Virtual PC 2004 as beta, and now it's free. Also when the Virtual Server 2005 R2 was unleashed as free product, I don't hesistate a fraction of a second to grab i (read the entire post)...

PrePaid Visa Card - Prezzy Card
Technology, posted: 27-Oct-2006 15:00
Looks like more NZers will be able to carry a Visa card from next Wednesday (1st November 2006). I asked a rep from NZPost about this, whether this is a Kiwibank only or universally available to anyone, and sure enough it is for anyone above 12 years old. Prepare to see kids as young as 12 to pay things with Visa card!
I think this is a great idea, as there are some household/people that want to purchase things from online store but have been unable to do that as perhaps they are no (read the entire post)...

TCL's new TV Guide is LIVE!
Website, posted: 12-Oct-2006 17:04
Just got an email from TCL about the upcoming week of screening and what-not.
In the news update is also an announcement of the new TV Guide.
Now, if only TelstraClear also offer this in RSS or even in XML! That'll be great! With the option to use querystring to request the specific channel(s) and time and date. Imagine getting RSS feed of the channels and time-range that you want.
Also, imagine the use of XML onto Windows MCE's EPG!!!!!

I just got an email from Hugo with his latest video blog on how to use UMPC, the show is targeting those potential UMPC buyers, or fresh new UMPC users on how to work the basic features of UMPC. This is a look into the softwares that come standard with UMPC out of the box.
It is worth watching if you are not sure what UMPC is good for, and perhaps been wondering how UMPC may shape into your daily lifestyle, or just simply skeptic or confused whether you want a pocketpc/pda or tablet (read the entire post)...
