New Nokia 3220 can be used for light signals

The new mobile phone comes with transparent Nokia Xpress-On grips, which pulsate with light effects to indicate calls, messages, and in sync with the beat of ringtones.

Nokia says that it's launching a new style of communication. The Light Messaging is done by waving the Nokia 3220 from side to side. The LED lights of the Nokia Xpress-on light up to "write" a message that appears to float in mid-air, like some LED clocks available on the Internet.

The phone also brings a built-in game based on the television series Survivor. Users can control characters, create alliances, and vote off rivals.

The Nokia 3220 also comes with a tilt sensor, and can be used as a joystick in motion games. Users can tilt the phone to move characters through a series of challenges and tests. Two motion games are included: SwampRacer and

The tri-band phone (GSM 900/1800/1900 and GSM 850/1800/1900) also comes with a built-in VGA camera and MMS capabilities. Shipments are expected to start in summer 2004 and unsubsidised retail price will start around 250 EUR.
