Wharf42 and Plug and Play International Announce Strategic Partnership

Wharf42 and Plug and Play today announced the launch of the Wharf42 Plug and Play Technology Incubator.

The Wharf42 Plug and Play Technology Incubator has been established to work with New Zealand Universities, Crown Research Institutes and private sector entrepreneurs to identify suitable IP-based ideas or technology which will benefit from a range of customised incubation services designed to commercialise that IP in the global market. The Wharf42 Plug and Play Technology Incubator will have offices in both Tauranga, New Zealand & Sunnyvale, CA.

Peter Wren-Hilton, Wharf42 founder says of the launch of the Wharf42 Plug and Play Technology Incubator, “By joining forces with Plug and Play, Silicon Valley’s largest startup accelerator, Wharf42 will provide access to incubation best practice, an established network of global corporate partners and significant angel and venture funding opportunities in both New Zealand and Silicon Valley. By introducing startup and early stage New Zealand businesses to the Silicon Valley eco-system and enabling them to experience Silicon Valley at first hand as part of the incubation process, we believe we can significantly assist accelerate the commercialisation process.”

Saeed Amidi, Founder and CEO of Plug & Play has been appointed to the Wharf42 Advisory Board.

Of the launch of the Wharf42 Plug & Play Technology Incubator, Saeed says, “Plug & Play is delighted to partner with Wharf42. We are keen to work with Wharf42 to provide mentorship and funding, as well as introductions to Plug and Play’s global community of corporate and investor partners to help convert world class research and innovation into world class businesses on the global stage. We believe that the Wharf42 Plug and Play Technology Incubator provides both the human and capital resource as well as the global connectivity necessary to accelerate these opportunities”.
