Bluetooth legal in Israel now
Posted on 26-Sep-2003 07:44. | Tags Filed under: News.

In the past Israel reserved the ISM band for military use, outlawing the use of Bluetooth devices. Israeli retailers selling advanced handsets had to neutralise their Bluetooth capabilities before sale. Now all that will become a thing of the past.

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon recently intervened to open the ISM band for civilian use. The band will be fully open for Bluetooth Class 2 and 3 devices by November 1st 2003. Manufacturers and importers can already apply to the Israeli Ministry of Communications to get advance permits for their Bluetooth devices.
