"This Little Card" launches unique social experiment
Posted on 4-Aug-2014 08:00. | Tags Filed under: News.

New Zealand-base developer Dan Faulknor launched his new social experiment “This Little Card”, to find out how much attention people pay to the things around them and their reaction to such things.

“This experiment can teach us a lot and the data gathered will be valuable” said Dan. “It’s also a lot of fun. I think we can have cards moving all around the world. It will be an amazing thing to watch.”

The cards will be distributed in different parts of the world, where there will be a “Pick Me Up” call to action inscribed in the card along with some simple instructions. Individuals who find a card can reply back through Twitter, SMS, email or scan a QR Code printed on the back of the card in order to communicate with the team behind this project.

The team will collect data such as the card’s ID and location, and then mark that on the map. This will help the team to find out how much attention people are paying to follow the instructions inscribed in the card.

Dan’s inspiration behind this project was an unusual business card promoting a competition in New Zealand, which he came across. It made him wonder how often people would actually notice such a thing.

Dan is planning to add a survey, which will be sent to the finders of card to collect some more detailed data. He is currently looking for contributions from backers worldwide to create a community that can help with the distribution of cards, logistics, and funding for printing and postage.
