Megaport Open Alliance Partnership Announced with Vibe Communications to Extend Reach into New Zealand markets
Posted on 29-Oct-2014 15:21. | Tags Filed under: News.

Megaport announced today that Vibe Communications is the newest participant in the Megaport Open Alliance, enabling expansion and growth into the New Zealand market.

Megaport was founded in 2013 by Bevan Slattery to create a new paradigm for networks and cloud services to interconnect – The Megaport Platform. Originally launched in Australia as an Amazon Direct Connect Partner, Megaport now provides on-demand, elastic connectivity to over 100 network and cloud services providers.  With plans to expand in Asia, Europe, and the United States in 2015, the Megaport Platform will service over 25 major markets around the world.

Megaport will provide Vibe Communications its standard Megaport 10Gbps ports in New Zealand with the same pricing structure as Australia, billable in New Zealand, Australian or US dollars. Vibe Communications has launched a new venture, IntelliPath, which has full API integration with Megaport, allowing customers to provision and manage services in near real-time from any one of the 7 main data centres in Auckland to any Megaport location or customer in New Zealand and Australia. Vibe is expanding its metro network to Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch and an additional 3 data centres in Auckland in Q1 of 2015 extending the reach of Megaport services in New Zealand even further.

Denver Maddux, newly appointed CEO of Megaport, said: “Seamless interconnectivity from Auckland into data centres in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne bridges the divide between businesses operating in both markets. As part of our own innovation strategy to grow and expand, we are now empowering New Zealand customers with access to multiple clouds and networks so they can connect with anyone, in any location.”

“One of the major inhibitors to mass cloud services adoption in New Zealand is the time, cost and complexity of deploying connectivity between key locations at which content and service providers are aggregated. IntelliPath will allow customers to chose the capacity and duration of services dynamically” says CCO of Vibe Communications, Rudi Hefer “that, coupled with the reach and continued growth of the Megaport and IntelliPath footprints breaks down those barriers.”
