Posted on 10-Dec-2014 09:37. | Tags Filed under: News.

TV streaming service Quickflix welcomes news that Google’s Chromecast device is now widely available following its official launch into New Zealand today. Quickflix also announces the digital release of internationally acclaimed Kiwi movie The Dark Horse, which is now available to rent from Quickflix.

Chromecast is a new and easy way to stream TV shows and movies to the TV screen at home.  Simply plug the Chromecast into your television's HDMI port, connect it to WiFi, and then cast instantly from an Android or iOS smartphone or tablet, or from the Chrome browser on your computer.  The Quickflix Android and iOS apps are both optimised for Chromecast, so watching movies and TV from your mobile device has never been easier.

Paddy Buckley, Managing Director of Quickflix NZ, said “We’re delighted to be the first subscription and pay-per-view movie and TV streaming service in New Zealand to be available via Chromecast. It is so simple and easy to use, and we believe it will be a big hit for existing streaming customers, as well as Kiwis who have yet to discover streaming. Both affordable and portable, it’s also the perfect device to take away with you over the holidays.”

"Today’s Chromecast launch is part of our commitment to continue adding new devices to our platform, which is already the most accessible in the country.  Our aim is to give streaming viewers affordable and easy access to our movies and TV shows.”

Also announced today is the digital release of Kiwi movie The Dark Horse, now available as a pay-per-view from Quickflix. Starring Cliff Curtis and James Rolleston, it is the inspiring true story of little-known New Zealand chess champion Genesis Potini, and is wowing audiences all over the world.

fter opening the New Zealand International Film Festival this year, The Dark Horse made its international debut at the Toronto Film Festival, and the movie was soon hailed as one of the greatest New Zealand films ever made.

“We are thrilled to be supporting The Dark Horse,” says Buckley. “We are able to make it available across the widest range of connected devices in the country and, as a new release pay-per-view movie, it’s available to everyone, whether they are a Quickflix subscriber or not.  We know Kiwis will love it.”
