Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint for Android smartphones now available
Microsoft has the general availability of Word, Excel and PowerPoint for Android smartphones. The apps offer the same touch-optimised Office experience currently available on Android tablets, but with a UI completely redesigned for a smaller screen.

Word, Excel and PowerPoint for Android phone join other applications Microsoft have delivered for the Android platform including Outlook, OneNote and OneDrive. It is also the company's final step in completing the Office experience on Android devices.

Key features of Office apps for Android phones include:
  • Familiar and consistent Office experience, combining the familiar look, feel and quality of Office with a touch-friendly experience designed for Android phones. Documents open and render with all formatting and content in the right place. In addition, familiar navigation and menu options in the ribbon are placed at the bottom of the screen within reach of your thumbs so you can easily review and edit documents on your Android phone.
  • Work anywhere, anytime with the apps allowing users to read, review, and make edits on-the-go. Numbers turn into insights with easy insertion of charts, text and tables in Excel. PowerPoint presentations come to life with the ability to review, make quick edits and even present right from your phone.
  • Access your documents quickly from the cloud on your Android smartphone so you can access them anywhere and anytime you need them. Access to OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, and SharePoint are all available.
  • Collaboration is built-in with the ability to share ideas, insights, presentations with others right from the smartphone.

Like Office for iOS and Android tablets, the core viewing, creating and editing experience is available for free. With an Office 365 subscription, users will be able to access subscription-only benefits such as more robust editing and authoring features; 1TB of OneDrive storage and 60 minutes of Skype unlimited worldwide calling per month.
