The Treo 600 smartphone from palmOne has received PC Magazine's Technical Excellence award in the Mobile Device category. Calling the Treo 600 smartphone a "tour de force," the magazine praised the device for breaking new ground and raising the bar in the smartphone category of products. The Treo 600 smartphone also was named a finalist for the Best of COMDEX award in the Mobile Device category. The product is available with service plans from Sprint PCS, Cingular Wireless and AT&T.
PC Magazine said that not only is the Treo 600 smartphone "sleeker than its predecessors, its QWERTY keyboard, SD slot, no-flip design, Palm OS, and speakerphone strike the right balance between familiarity and cutting-edge features. The built-in VGA camera is the latest gotta-have-it feature in the Treo 600, and the little stunner is available on both GSM/GPRS and CDMA networks."
The Treo 600 smartphone combines a world-class phone, a Palm OS 5-based organizer, messaging, email, and web-browsing capabilities into a bar phone form factor. The device's keyboard design makes dialing the phone and sending messages and email easier than before, while the five-way navigation system makes one-handed use a snap.
"The Treo 600 delivers the form and functionality customers are seeking from a smartphone, and we are thrilled to be recognized for our efforts by PC Magazine," said Joe Sipher, vice president of product and carrier marketing for palmOne.
