Marathon tracking via Bluetooth and Windows Mobile Smartphone

Using their Bluetooth Heart monitor, Alive Technologies developed a platform to monitor the progress and physical condition of marathon runners. The systems captures information from a Bluetooth heart monitor and from a Bluetooth GPS, and feeds it into a Windows Mobile Smartphone.

This information is then transmitted to a server, on-line and real-time via GPRS. Viewers, coach and other interested users can then log into a website where the current position and athlete's condition can be tracked, or replayed.

The system was used on the Australian Gold Coast Marathon, and it's scheduled to be used in another three events, with live broadcast.
