Posted on 23-Jan-2005 12:04. | Tags Filed under: News.

ACCESS has announced the availability of NetFront v3.3 browser engine, a new version of their browser for the beyond-PC market which includes mobile phones, PDAs, smatphones, set-top boxes, digital television, automobile telematics, and other Internet devices.

Key elements of this new version include enhanced support for Dynamic HTML, intelligent frame handling, pop-up blocking and support for Really Simple Syndication (RSS). Additional key features include Atom Feed, a file format for content distribution via XML used to access popular Weblogs, support for international domains, encryption and saving of Web data with a specified URL, and management of Web data and passwords.

NetFront v3.3 browser engine adds to the feature-set already supported by NetFront browser which includes support for WAP 2.0, WML, HTML 4.01, and cHTML as well as unique technologies like Rapid-Render, an incremental rendering technology that significantly accelerates the presentation of Web pages, and Smart-Fit Rendering, a rendering technology that intelligently renders Web pages to fit the screen width of mobile devices, eliminating the need for horizontal scrolling. NetFront is also the only mobile browser in the world to provide integrated support for Adobe Reader and Adobe's ubiquitous portable document format (PDF).

There are no comments on when the engine will be available in commercial products. Current Netfront 3.1 engine is used in browsers available for Windows Mobile Pocket PC, Symbian smartphones and Palm OS based devices.
