Pretec announce another flash memory format targeting mobile phone users
Pretec Electronics Corp. is introducing a new generation of flash memory card and module called C-Flash. With physical size of 17mm x 12mm x 1.0mm, about 1/3 the volume of RS-MMC or miniSD, C-Flash is one of the smallest form factor flash memory cards in the world, competing with the Transflash format.

The new card also supports smart card (SIM card) technologu, allowing multimedia mobile phones utilizing C-Flash to use a smaller footprint for the memory card allowing for new designs not previously possible.

Capable to support MU-Card, a specification from greater China lead by Mu-Card Alliance of OMIA (Open Mobile Internet Alliance), with capacity up to 2048GB (500 times of MMC capacity) and transfer speed up to 120MB/s (10 times of SD speed), C-Flash has been adopted by Mu-Card Alliance as the next small form factor of MU-Card (called MU-Flash). Pretec is currently sampling 128MB C-Flash to major mobile phone makers, with capacity of 1GB available by Q2 of 2005. Mobile phones with C-Flash bundling will be in the market start from Q3 of 2005.

Pretec will also offer various adapters for C-Flash such as SD, miniSD, MMC, RS-MMC and USB; users will be able to use the C-Flash card, in a variety of devices with different slots, like digital cameras, mobile phones, MP3 players, handhelds, etc.
