Commtag announced the launch of Duality Always On MailŪ for Smartphone OS. Duality for Smartphone is the first product of its kind to support the Smartphone OS software platform and GPRS (2.5G), transforming devices such as the SPV into a business tool and addressing the needs of high value and business customers for whom full access to corporate email is critical. Unveiled today on the Commtag stand (Hall 2, stand E63), executives will be able to see the future of email on the move with the world's first demonstration of always-on mail on a Smartphone device.

Today's announcement reinforces Duality's technology leadership and is testament to its nomination as a finalist for the 'Best Corporate Wireless Application' award by the GSM Association. Also announced today by Commtag is the launch of Duality Enterprise for Lotus Notes, extending always-on mail to the extensive installed Lotus Notes corporate user base

"An .out-of-the-box. Smartphone really isn't that 'smart' for the corporate user," said Geoffrey Baird, CEO, Commtag. "The devices have massive potential in terms of user experience and future applications, but they.re still failing to take advantage of the most fundamental element of all...the fact that they have always-on data connectivity. To be really 'smart', the phone shouldn't be waiting for the user to remember to check for their mail, it should be automatically pushing email to the mobile device as soon as it hits the desktop back in the office. Duality squarely addresses the needs of the early adopter professional user who will drive the uptake of Smartphone devices, providing them with true always-on and secure mobile access to their business email".

Duality Enterprise is installed behind the corporate firewall on a server where it can be securely managed by the IT department. Duality is network, operator and device agnostic, managing the transmission of the user's email in real-time to and from their choice of GPRS-enabled handheld device. Duality Enterprise v2.0 further extends the email options for businesses that have equipped their mobile workforce with smart devices such as the Compaq iPAQ, HP Jornada and XDA. Duality Enterprise for Smartphone builds on Commtag's existing support for the Pocket PC 2002 and Pocket PC Phone Edition, to enable users of new Smartphone devices such as the SPV to receive always-on email direct to the multimedia handset.
