Dealing With Private Information In Forums
Posted on 6-Sep-2005 09:24 by M Freitas. | Tags Filed under: Blog.

It looks strange that this happened here, but it is something to be aware. Remember, Privacy Laws help but you are not always 100% covered when posting in any forum. The kind of information posted can easily be linked to a person, or organisation.

I don't know the actual story, but what it looks like is that someone posted in our forums some confidential information belonging to a company, and as a result legal actions were taken against the person posting that information.

I am sorry I can't help with more information - I had no idea this happened until I read this entry in the forums. I don't know the entire story, and can only guess at what companies were involved, etc...

But this is a good advice: follow our Forum Usage Guidelines, and use common sense. If you are about to disclose any information that is proprietary, or covered by a NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement), or an employment agreement then think twice.

As a rule, please do not disclose any information that is not already released by the owner.

Now, back to our programme...
