PhatWare Software Receives Two Honors In Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine’s Best Software Awards
PhatWare Corporation was awarded two Best Software Awards from Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine, and two additional PhatWare products were recognized as finalists. 172193 CalliGrapher won the “Utilities Handwriting” category for the fourth consecutive year, and 45990 PhatNotes was declared the winner of the “Utilities Notes” category for the fifth successive year.

This is the fifth year for the Best Software Awards. Eighty members of the Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine Board of Experts judged 768 Windows Mobile-based products in 130 Pocket PC, Smartphone and Developer categories to determine finalists and winners.

As one of the most popular handwriting recognition products on the market, CalliGrapher recognizes cursive, print and mixed handwriting styles on devices running. The software uses advanced fuzzy logic and neural net techniques to recognize arbitrary letters and numbers. CalliGrapher has several features that increase usability and customizability for Windows Mobile-based users. CalliGrapher was recently upgraded to include, among several additional features, a new designated writing area called Write Pad and a Statistical Analyzer that learns the user’s writing habits and automatically fixes common recognition errors.

PhatNotes Professional Edition is a notes organizer that allows users to create notes and organize them by type, subject, creation and modification date. The software provides powerful text search, document security and email capabilities. PhatNotes includes an English spell checker and allows users to hyperlink between notes within PhatNotes, giving them the ability to cross reference notes. Additionally, PhatNotes provides direct access to PhatPad, which allows the user to attach handwritten notes in two taps.

"Phatware has supported the Windows Mobile platform with extraordinarily popular and useful products for years,” said Hal Goldstein, publisher and executive editor of Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine. “We were please to once again to award CalliGrapher and PhatNotes as the best of their class for 2005."

Two additional PhatWare products were honored as finalists in the awards process. PhatPad was a finalist in the “Utilities Notes” category for Pocket PC software, the same category that PhatNotes won. PhatNotes Smartphone Edition was a finalist in the Notes category for Smartphone software.
