Verso Shows NetSpective Software to Block Skype Call

Verso Technologies, Inc. is planning to introduce a enhancements to its NetSpective 2.0 software for enterprise organizations, which specifically target and block Skype software. According to the company, the application application that poses security risks and significantly drains bandwidth.

Representatives will also be available to discuss NetSpective's operator offering, including operator versions (C-class and M-class). This may lead operators to actively block Skype VoIP calls over their networks.

The Enterprise 2.0 upgrade provides network administrators with control over the type and volume of content resulting in improved quality of service. It also allows for monitoring and regulation of traffic on their networks. The enterprise version blocks unregulated traffic.

NetSpective's carrier offering provides an array of optimization and content management options for operators to selectively disable undesirable network traffic and improve service levels on their networks. In addition to Skype, it blocks applications such as Peer-2-Peer (P2P) messaging, streaming media and instant messaging, which cause congestion and interrupt or degrade service for other critical applications.
