Toshiba New Zealand Releases High Performance Laptops

This month Toshiba New Zealand has released two new high-end consumer multimedia laptop models in the Satellite P100 series. Both models are Intel Core Duo systems with the following specs:
Model one: 1.83Ghz processor (T2400), 100GB hard disk, native display resolution of 1680x1050, GeForce Go 7300 256MB RAM, NZ$3,999 RRP;
Model two: 1.66Ghz processor (T2300), 80GB hard disk, native display resolution of 1440x900, GeForce GO 7300 128MB RAM, NZ$3,2999 RRP.
Both are attractive to gamers and multimedia users because of the GeForce chipset, but they also provide some additional features that will attract other users: 17” TruBrite Widescreen display, SATA notebook disk at 5400rpm, DVD SuperMulti double/dual layer drive, Harman/Kardon stereo speakers built-in, DVI-D ( for use with HDTV) and S-Video outputs, IEEE1394a (400Mbps) Firewire connection for adding chained devices, UPEC fingerprint reader, multimedia remote control and 5-in-1 card reader (SD, Memory stick, Memory stick Pro, MMC and xD).
Other more standard laptop features include 2x memory slots (512MB standard, up to 2GB of RAM), SPDIF output, microphone and stereo headphones jack, PCMCIA slot (Type II cards and Express cards), DSUB ( VGA ) output, 4x Hi-speed USB2.0 ports.
The laptops come with the Intel 3945 802.11a/b/g wireless chipset, Bluetooth 2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) and Gigabit Ethernet (1000Mbps).
The infrared remote control gives users convenient access to power, CD, DVD, volume and other multimedia functions without booting up the operating system. It can be stored in the PC card slot of the notebook.
A rechargeable battery can provide up to to 2.5hrs of battery life, depending on use.
