Venzero has released a very light (99 grams) MP3 player, the Venzero ONE. This is the first media player to feature Shareport, a second USB port to access and directly exchange data with devices from digital cameras to other Venzero ONE devices.
Shareport makes it easy to upload and download data to and from digital cameras, USB sticks, other MP3 players and more. Since the device boasts a full-size USB share-out and a full-size USB share-in, it can be plugged straight into a PC or USB hub without the need for an adapter or lead. When a USB mass storage device is connected to the share-in port, the integrated file manager provides an interface to move data onto or off of a Venzero ONE with no need for a PC or notebook.
The Venzero ONE is also the first model to provide direct support for MusicMarker, a free service that automatically recognizes song titles. Music fans need only to press the MusicMarker button on the Venzero ONE to record a few seconds of the song they are currently listening to on another device such as a radio. The next time the player is hooked up to a computer, Venzero’s software companion, the Venzero MediaManager, identifies the song and displays the artist, song title and album on screen. A download button built into the software gives customers a convenient way to access partner stores and buy the song.
Venzero One will include full integration in Microsoft Windows Media Player 10 and 11, while the company also has plans to join Microsoft’s PlaysForSure logo program, Full Windows DRM 10 support will enable Venzero ONE to exchange data with any other PlaysForSure devices if this is permitted in the music DRM.
The Venzero MediaManager software also includes features that make reading blogs, accessing podcasts, and playing video on the device possible. The device’s RSS support transforms the Venzero ONE into a mobile news and blog reader. The Venzero MediaManager handles the direct synchronization of podcast subscriptions.
The device supports MP3, WMA and Ogg Vorbis for music formats, JPG, BMP and TIF for images. A built-in FM tuner on the Venzero ONE supports both automatic and manual channel searches.
Pictures can be presented on a 320x240 LCD, which can also be used for video clips and video podcasts.
The 8 GB Venzero ONE has a recommended retail price of US$289.90 USD and will be available starting mid-June 2006.
