Posted on 19-Jul-2006 09:08. | Tags Filed under: News.

German software vendor SoftMaker has followed on the heels of the release of its latest version of TextMaker with a free-for-download file viewer that opens practically every popular word processing format.

TextMaker Viewer can open, display and print documents created by TextMaker, Microsoft Word, StarOffice, OpenOffice.org, OpenDocument and several other popular word processors.

The TextMaker Viewer is a free 4 MB download. The software is based on technology from the popular SoftMaker
TextMaker 2006 multi-platform word processor.

The current release of TextMaker Viewer supports the following file formats: .DOC (Microsoft Word 6.0 and higher), .DOT (Microsoft Word templates 6.0 and higher), .TMD (TextMaker 6.0 and higher), .ODT (OpenDocument Text), .SXW (StarOffice, OpenOffice.org), .PSW (Pocket Word for Pocket PC), .PWD (Pocket Word for Handheld PC), and the basic .RTF,
.TXT, .HTM and .HTML files. TextMaker Viewer works on all versions of Windows (95 and higher).
