Toshiba’s Digital Products Division is introducing the one-pound TDP-FF1AU DLP (digital light processing) palm-sized multimedia projector.
About the size of a paperback book, the TDP-FF1AU is one of the lightest and smallest projectors on the market and Toshiba’s first battery powered portable projection solution. The new projector comes at an estimated single unit price of US$699 in the U.S.
The TDP-FF1AU projector is ideal for mobile presenters and can be used for small group presentations, movie nights, video games, as well as classroom and business presentations. The TDP-FF1AU can project an 11- to 68-inch diagonal image and comes with a foldable 23-inch diagonal display screen, rechargeable battery, battery charger and carrying case.
This new projector delivers 400 Lux of brightness with a native SVGA 800 x 600 resolution and a contrast ratio of 1500:1.
In addition to the convenience of the projector’s size, the Toshiba TDP-FF1AU is built with an energy-efficient LED (light emitting diode) light source that can last for up to 10,000 hours of use, which the company says is much longer than a conventional projector lamp. The LED light source does not heat up the projector, eliminating powering up or cool down time, and increasing battery life. A fan isn’t required either, enabling quiet operation.
The projector’s ability to operate on low power consumption enables approximately two hours of battery life.
