Posted on 5-Feb-2007 09:03. | Tags Filed under: News.

Wellingtonians will soon have a taste of Telecom New Zealand's CDMA EV-DO Rev A, currently only available in Auckland. The company plans to introduce the service on the 22 February.

According to plans revealed in later 2006, by mid 2007, these services will be offered in other key cities across New Zealand such as Christchurch, Hamilton and Dunedin. All remaining EV-DO cell sites throughout New Zealand will be upgraded to Rev. A by December 2007.

This upgrade enables operators to deliver average data throughput speeds of 800 Kbps over the downlink and 400 kbps over the uplink, with peak speeds reaching 3.1 Mbps and 1.8 Mbps, respectively.
