Good OS (gOS) and Everex have announced the limited edition MyMiniPC running gOS Space 2.9, a special version of gOS Linux made for MySpace users, featuring brand new MySpace Apps just weeks after the MySpace API launch.
MyMiniPC targets MySpace users with a glossy white case, 3D desktop, and a media center dock stacked with MySpace and Web 2.0 folders for News, Photos, Videos, Music, TV and Movies, and more. At one and half inches tall and weighing two pounds, the MyMiniPC will be reailted at US$499.
"The MySpace Developer Platform is all about embracing developers and empowering them to create new and exciting ways for friends to connect on MySpace and share their experiences with one another," said Chuck Rosendahl, the Managing Director of MySpace San Francisco. "The MyMiniPC is the perfect appliance for MySpace users and those whose activities are consistently tied to the web and less to the desktop. It is an ideal solution for getting access quickly to the MySpace apps that matter most to our users."
The MyMiniPC with gOS Space dock shows off some of the newest MySpace Apps: "Super Mood," "Super Graffiti," "Super Quotes," and "Current Time." With Super Mood, users add super sized emoticons and personal updates to their MySpace profiles; with Super Graffiti, users draw pictures on their friends' MySpace profiles; with Super Quotes, users select fun quotes to display on their profiles; and with Current Time, users add digital clocks to their pages that display their local times in different colors.
In addition to MySpace Apps, the gOS Space dock introduces expandable icons: "MySpace", "News", "Photos", "Videos", "Music", "TV and Movies", "Work", and "Fun".
Clicking the MySpace icon expands to shortcuts for the entire MySpace navigation bar, while other icons pop open the most popular websites for content. For example, clicking "TV and Movies" reveals Hulu, NBC, CBS, and other sites where users can watch full-length TV episodes from popular shows such as "Family Guy," "The Simpsons," and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."
Like MySpace's founder and first friend, "Tom," gOS Space's founder, "Dave," is the user's first friend on the desktop. Dave's face, labeled "Ask Dave", is a shortcut to Dave's MySpace profile where users can ask about MyMiniPC, gOS Space, and its included MySpace Apps, as well as add Dave as a friend.
The MyMiniPC features an Intel Pentium Dual-Core Mobile Processor T2130 (1MB L2 Cache, 1.86GHz, 533MHz), 512 MB DDR2 RAM, 120 GB HDD, DVD recorder, HD audio and digital video output. It also provides Intel Graphics Media Accelerator GMA950, Realtek ALC268 High-Definition Audio; one firewire port, four USB 2.0 ports, card reader, DVI and S-Video ports and a gigabit ethernet adapter.
