New Zealand RobCup Winners announced
On Saturday the 6th of September approximately 300 New Zealand kids descended onto Point View Primary School in Auckland to compete against one another at the national RoboCup competition.

Winners have been announced across six categories of the RoboCup competition: Robotic Dance (Junior and Senior), Robotic Search and Rescue (Junior and Premier) and Robotic Soccer (Junior and Senior).

RoboCup is a science and technology-oriented, robotics education initiative sponsored by Toshiba and Modern Teaching Aids. The initiative aims to further research and education in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence.

The international RoboCup initiative is aiming to have a team of fully autonomous humanoid robot soccer players win a game against a human soccer team, by 2050.


The winner for Robotic Dance Junior is Oliver Skzrynski, Anil Bhana Savage of Scots College, Wanganui/ Wellington
The winner for Robotic Soccer Junior is Adam Maddren, Sebastian Ragg, Michael Olsen of Waikowhai Intermediate, Auckland
The winner for Robotic Search and Rescue Junior is Rhys Bailey, Nick Baugen, Peter Ivory of Wanganui Intermediate, Wanganui
The winner for Robotic Dance Senior is Sam Mence and Hayden Patel of Birkenhead College, Auckland
The winner for Robotic Soccer Senior is Vaughan Weatherall, Ben Liddell, Sam Paulin and Edward Law of Logan Park School, Dunedin
The winner for Robotic Search and Rescue Premier (pictured) is Tara Dickonson, Wanganui Intermediate, Wanganui
