QuickPlay Media Inc. is powering the first mobile TV service for Telecom New Zealand’s XT Mobile Network customers. The subscription-based service offers a broad selection of award-winning TV content for a monthly or weekly subscription fee, as well as premium clips and events on a pay-per-use basis. Telecom’s new service is available on a wide selection of today’s most popular video-enabled devices from leading manufacturers, including Sony Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung.

Telecom’s XT Mobile network is a next generation HSDPA network and the Mobile TV service is available throughout Telecom’s coverage area to all XT Mobile Network customers.

The service includes a wide variety of exclusive content from TVNZ and MediaWorks (TV3, C4) in addition to other programs. These shows include “Two and a Half Men” and “Outrageous Fortune,” and new series such as “Fringe” and “The Mentalist.” Besides local content consisting of continuously updated news, weather, sports and business information from New Zealand’s major television networks, XT customers are also able to view animated shows such as “American Dad” and “Family Guy,” preview movie trailers, catch up on celebrity gossip and provide entertainment for children with a specially-designed Kids’ TV section.

Moreover, the XT Mobile TV service includes features to ease navigation and discovery, including content search which allows subscribers to easily and quickly locate exclusive programming from leading networks and popular shows. Telecom’s mobile TV service also includes a Top 10 content listing, provides guidance on how to locate and view programs, and personalizes recommendations based on a subscriber’s viewing habits.

“We chose QuickPlay Media for its proven success delivering advanced mobile video solutions,” said Paul Taylor, Head of Mobile Data and Content, Telecom New Zealand. “We welcome the opportunity to partner with this world-class company to deliver a cutting-edge mobile TV service to our XT Mobile subscribers.”
