LG to unleash Windows Mobile 6.5 in New Zealand
LG Mobile has announced the arrival of its first business device into the New Zealand market and New Zealand’s first Windows Phone, featuring the new Windows Mobile 6.5 platform.

The LG GM570, available exclusively on the Vodafone network, is the first of many LG handsets to feature the updated Windows Mobile platform, promising ‘the best experience for work and play.’

Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 is the latest operating system from Windows Mobile team, and the platform boasts 50 million phones sold worldwide, 30 Million with Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1 alone.

LG Mobile New Zealand Business Manager, Adam Gordon believes the release of the GM570 is an exciting step in the relationship between LG Mobile and Microsoft in delivering New Zealand mobile users breakthrough technology and capabilities.

“The GM570 is an exciting handset, featuring LG’s stylish S-Class User Interface and a 3-inch touch screen display. Add to this the exceptional browsing, email and application capabilities of Windows Mobile new 6.5 platform and LG Mobile is delivering the latest in mobile technology to a tech savvy New Zealand market,” said Gordon.

Improved browsing capabilities on the 6.5 platform allow for web pages to be displayed onscreen similar to the display of a Windows desktop and feature the support of Adobe Flash Lite, allowing users to view Flash-based video content.

Windows Mobile 6.5 promises the best email and calendar experience, allowing the management of multiple email accounts from a single handset and the easy synchronisation and back up of contact information and appointments, ensuring information is always up to date.

The GM750 features a full colour screen display, built in 5MP camera and Micro SD slot.

Two Microsoft services launching with this new Windows Phone are Microsoft My Phone and Windows Marketplace for Mobile.

My Phone is a free service that helps people manage and back up the invaluable information stored on their Windows Phone, providing peace of mind and an easy restore option in the event of a lost or damaged handset. The service also offers a subscription-based option with additional features.

Windows Marketplace for Mobile offers people an easy way to find and purchase high-quality mobile applications for both work and play.

The GM570 will be available from Vodafone stores from 7 October, 2009 at a RRP of NZ$699.00
