Starting 20 May 2003 Vodafone will sponsor a new TV show in New Zealand, where teams will send receive information, directions, using the Vodafone live! service to complete their tasks. They'll be able to e-mail, SMS, send pictures to each other over the Vodafone network. I think it's a combination of The Incredible Race and Survivor (in the city).
Three teams are hunting one of New Zealand's 3000 J Smiths. The "real" J Smith will receive NZ$250,000 (US$ 140,000) in prize money.
Contestants will have a limit of 15 minutes to talk to each other each day and will communicate the rest of the time using the sponsor's latest product, capable of emailing, taking photographs, and text and pxt messaging. They will also be able to interact with a team member who has access to a computer in the studio.
The prize money will be shared by the winning team and viewers who participate successfully in the show's live component, via text messaging. Both Vodafone and Telecom users can participate, and each text messages will cost 50c.
