Microsoft announced that Kevin Ackhurst, managing director of Microsoft New Zealand will be moving to Singapore to take up the position of vice-president Sales and Marketing for Asia Pacific.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would like to thank the team at Microsoft New Zealand for all their hard work. I’m also grateful to all our New Zealand customers and business partners for their personal and professional support over the past three years,” said Kevin Ackhurst, managing director Microsoft New Zealand.
“I’m looking forward to my new regional role and hope to maintain contact with my many New Zealand friends and business contacts,” said Ackhurst.
During the three years that Kevin led the New Zealand business he worked with several key IT leaders to establish and later chair the NZ ICT Group, an industry association made up of over 90 leading New Zealand ICT companies.
During his tenure, Microsoft donated more than $12 million in software and funding to over 750 non-profit organisations throughout the country. This is primarily through the TechSoup programme. In addition a number of strategic partnerships were developed with the Computer Clubhouse, 2020 Communications Trust, Barnardos and Plunket.
In May, Microsoft was also named the Recruit IT Employer of Choice winner in the annual New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards, for its flexible working culture, career development, and health and wellness policies.
Kevin takes up the new role from 2 August. A replacement is currently being sought and will be announced once confirmed.
