Sony introduces Android-based Walkman player
Sony is launching the first ever Walkman powered by Android, the NWZ-Z1000 series. Dedicated to providing a mobile audio experience, the Walkman is packed with Sony’s sound technologies and is a mobile entertainment device with the ability to watch movies, view photos and download thousands of apps from the Android Market.

More than a Music Player Walkman Z series is the first Mobile Entertainment Player from Sony that’s powered by Android 2.3. With the new Walkman Z Series users can update their status on Facebook or Twitter, play Angry Birds, send an email, check their bank account, catch up on the latest news, and more with an ever-increasing range of apps available on the Android Market.

Music, videos, games and apps come alive on its anti-reflective 4.3” multi-touch LCD screen, combined with a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dualcore processor.

The Walkman Z Series allows users to share content at home and on the move wirelessly via Wi-Fi and connects to other DLNA-enabled devices. Users can ‘throw’ music, pictures and videos from the Walkman screen by ‘flicking’ them directly to compatible TVs, PCs, or home audio system to stream media. Users can connect the Walkman directly to a TV via the micro HDMI out, or connect via Bluetooth to compatible speakers, headphones, hi-fi systems or car stereos effortlessly with no wire clutter.

Sony's Music Unlimited app comes pre-installed so users are able to discover new music, listen to classic tracks and sync their own library to the cloud. In a new feature the Walkman Z Series enables Music Unlimited subscribers to transfer their favourite playlists and channels to the Walkman so that users can listen to their tracks and playlists from Music Unlimited wherever and whenever. Walkman Z Series also offers easy transfer from iTunes for Windows or Windows Media Player.

Available in 16GB and 32GB capacities, the new Walkman Z1000 Mobile Entertainment Player from Sony will be available in New Zealand from beginning of April 2012 through Sony Stores and sony.co.nz with a suggested price of NZ$359.95 (16GB) and NZ$429.95 (32GB)
