Samsung brings TVNZ Ondemand to big screen

If you’d like to watch TVNZ Ondemand TV on your big screen, Samsung New Zealand and TVNZ have the answer.

The technology company has signed an exclusive deal with the broadcaster to bring their on demand content to your lounge via the new TVNZ Ondemand app for Samsung Smart TV’s. With just the click of a button, the app provides a quick and easy way for viewers to catch up on their favourite TV shows.

The app is available for Samsung Smart TV models from 2011.

Samsung New Zealand Group Product Manager Todd Selwyn says TVNZ Ondemand is just one example of the many different ways a Smart TV can be utilised in the home.

“Now you can sit back and watch TVNZ Ondemand content from the comfort of your couch on a big screen with friends and family,” Selwyn says.

“We all know big is best when it comes to content so this partnership provides another good reason to invest in a Samsung Smart TV.”

TVNZ’s General Manager of Digital Media Tom Cotter says the network is excited to partner with Samsung to bring TVNZ Ondemand to Samsung Smart TVs.

“This partnership gives Kiwis another place to watch their favourite shows when they want and is the first of a series of innovations they can expect from TVNZ Ondemand and Samsung in the coming months.”

TVNZ operates three digital TV channels, two of which are digital on the Sky platform. In November TVNZ Ondemand had more than 435,000 unique viewers and more than 2 million streams. The most popular programme that month was Shortland Street which got over 500,000 stream views.

Samsung Smart TV models that feature the new app include the ES8000, ES7000 and ES6200 series. Users can download the app by accessing Samsung Smart Hub on their TV and visiting the app store.

The Ondemand app is available now on Samsung Smart TVs and will soon also be available on Samsung Smart Blu-ray devices.
