kx.co.nz - Deal of the week?

kx.co.nz was picked up on Expired Domains yesterday for only $147. That's the lowest price I've seen for a two letter .co.nz domain in a long time.
Ever since all the LL.co.nz domains were registered a couple of years back, prices for the few that made their way to expired domains have tended to go up and up. For example here are some of the prices for closed auctions on Expired Domains over the years:
2005: ez.co.nz ($273.00), tu.co.nz ($565.00), xx.co.nz ($642.50)
2006: pr.co.nz ($997.50), at.co.nz ($717.00), dr.co.nz ($1800.00 *)
2007: xc.co.nz ($787.50 *), qp.co.nz ($1260.00 §), rs.co.nz ($1890.00 §)
* = auction closed but the domain was renewed by its existing owner
§ = auction closed but the domain was caught elsewhere
Note, these are the prices reported for deleted domains. Private sales of LL.co.nz domains to end users are likely to be much higher.
By examining further statistics of expired LL.co.nz domains it seems that many of those domains that appeared on Expired Domains in 2007 were subsequently renewed by their owners or caught by other domain catchers. Could it be that domainers have given up bidding on LL.co.nz domains hence the low price for kx.co.nz?

Thats a great record of past 2 letter domain prices - all seem very cheap for what will likely be some of the highest value nz domain real estate in a few years. kx.co.nz was definitely a bargain, although it is important to note that not all letters are as valuable/popular as others. Anything with a q, v, x, y or z will be at least 1/4 the value of the other letters simply because far fewer words / names begin with those letters. 'a' and 's' are the most popular. The biggest collection I have seen is on http://www.domainsforsale.co.nz. Not sure whether they are owned by one company or are just listings but many are similar prices above $5k.
