20% growth in .nz domains over 2007

The .nz domain space contained 314053 registered domain names at the end of 2007, compared to 261283 domains at the end of 2006, giving a growth rate of about 20.2% over the course of the year.
The growth rate has slowed since the 24.5% acheived in 2006, but is consistent with the average rate of 20.3% over the 5 year period to 31 December 2006.
Using the 5-year average growth rate, total .nz domain registrations are predicted to reach 1 million sometime early in 2014.
.co.nz domains currently make up about 85.8% of registered New Zealand domain names, a slight increase over the 85.5% mix in 2006.
