Decided to change our energy saving light bulbs in the lounge over to LCD's.

Everything was fine with the old silver Sky box but when we switched to MySky the LCD light bulbs interfered with the remote control something chronic.

Turns out the problem was with the colour of the LCD light bulbs. For some reason I bought "cool white" instead of the normal yellowish ones - just a heads up.

I believe that I read somewhere that CFL lamps can have this adverse affect and applying a Sky supplied stick-on clear plastic strip over the IR remote window on the decoder fixed it.   I've not heard of led problems to date.

When the problem with the remote occurred I googled it and saw the info about the Sky supplied filter on an old geekzone post. I tried all sorts of filter options including a sunglass lense but nothing worked. I swapped out the LED bulb as a last resort, so it was really just a fluke.
