I know it is never going to happen but instead of Igloo SKY should be trying to keep their existing customers happy by upgrading more channels to HD.

For starters how can you charge for Rugby Channel & Rialto and then so then in CRAPPY SD quality? And make Prime and/or UKTV HD as most shows especially the modern british ones are in HD quality.

the nature of satellite means there is a hard limit on how much HD they broadcast. Unless they want to spend hundreds of milions buying more capacity (unlikely) then they won't be putting much more in HD.

From Olympics experience it appears they have at least the equivalent capacity of 8 HD channels.

At the expense of all the pointless in the era of mysky PPV movie channels and something else that dropped back to SD for it.

Hopefully once more people have HDi they can drop sky boxoffice alltogether and just rely on the pre-loaded content onto boxes vs the constantly repeating waste of space all day.

There is extra capacity on Optus D3   but not all customers are fitted with dual satellite lnbfs

I'm picking they wont want to pay Optus for more capacity  !!

kiwisteve: slightly crisper with less artefacts around writing than the equivalent  sky sd satellite channels so it looks like the dvbt2 and  h.264 codec works well

h.264 should look better because the deblocking filter is not optional in the receiver. On the Sky SD boxes it is clear the optional MPEG 2 deblocking filter is not implemented, presumably to make HD feeds look better.

Just watched the little ad on their website... Nothing there about launching on the 3rd.

Funny ad... Guy finds change in the sofa cushions to pay for igloo... Just looked closely and he finds $6.60... Is this a clue to the charges?

Weren't they going to have a 28 day charging period for the extra channels? So does that mean $6.60 a week and $26.40 for the 28 days?

I'd love to find $6.60 a week in my sofa, but it always seems to be fluff and old pieces of toast under there...

Somehow I don't think you will get much for that price !!
checked with a couple of the retailers  no promos no advertisements  and no stock
so I  suspect that date is incorrect  !!

Ok so just went into the local Noel Leemings and asked. Yes, for sale on Monday and $199. 32 boxes per store. Getting excited now!

hdinsider:  Getting excited now!

I really wish I could get excited that easily.  I'm looking forward to seeing the concrete final pricing structure.  ie how much for a one off game and will this be available in HD with 5.1 sound etc?  Will you be able to subscribe to all games of this type or will they all be one offs etc?
