No PVR :-( It surely would have been an option to their software provider they have the USB port, and even the ability to use a USB stick as a circular buffer (... which can't be good for said USB stick ...), but no PVR. Jaxson:They do have some fairly recent downloadable content, but once again I'll be getting it cheaper and on bluray from my local video store where everything is either $4 or $1. Once again, I guess I'm just not their target audience. Herein lies the problem. Until streaming options (i.e. QuickFlix, Igloo etc) can get their Pay per view prices to match, or be under that of the local Video Store (Blu-ray), it's an immediate fail. At least IMO, it is. I would definitely pay for HDX 1080p Vudu quality streaming if it was $5 or under for 24-48 hours access.

I've never had Sky and apart from the odd All Blacks game I don't watch much sport. The right channel combination with a smart box and a good on-demand service could have been tempting. For me I think they've missed the mark. 1. No HD option (aside from the 3 Freeview channels). 2. No recording. 3. The non-Freeview content just a bit too expensive. The cherry on top is the cloaked CA.

One of the channels was previously on freeview, kidszone/tvnz6, while one has content paid for by taxpayers through the licensing fee, heartland. Except: 1. There is no licensing fee, hasn't been for a decade or more. 2. Probably more accurate to say "purchased from taxpayers". As a taxpayer, if TVNZ can extract some extra money by re-selling old content to Sky - when it doesn't have a viable business case to re-broadcast itself and it is simply otherwise just mouldering in its archives - then I'm all for it. They have to fund themselves somehow, and that seems like money for jam.

Also many of the programs on it are over a decade old, so would have been paid by the old licensing system. I would prefer to see all this taxpayer paid content available in an ondemand service online for all NZers to see for free. I recall hearing that Ziln was asking for some of the content for their own online service. Then there is the NZ archive that could do it.

When I had Sky the only Igloo channels that I watched was Natgeo but that seems to have turned into a reality TV channel when i watched it the other week.., BBC news occasionally for for my point of view most of the channels are ones I wouldn't watch... Regards, Old3eyes

The Sky channels I would watch on Igloo are, BBC World, BBC Knowledge, Comedy Central, UK TV, Heartland and Food. The USB input is a bit fussy. The igloo instruction sheet says "any USB stick will do" but I tried a pre formatted 16G stick and it wouldn't see it. Thought I'd chuck a 256M one on for a laugh and it says "too small". don't mess with me.... i'm the hd insider....

I have read somewhere that an 8G flash drive gives you 4 hrs of "time shifting" In the PDF manual it says the USB flash drive must be empty and it will format it on insertion?

Does your Igloo go onto Standby overnight ?? even when Power options are set to NEVER !! a real nuisance if you want to record overnight onto the HDD recorder
