I would like CNN to go 16:9 widescreen as well. Now ESPN is widescreen, CNN is the only one that i would watch left to go.

Even if they dont go widescreen, it would be good if they would pillerbox all the 4:3 channels before sending them out so that those of us who have to put up with the non aspect aware peasant sky dont have to keep messing with the aspect of the TV to watch things in non-fattovision.

I see Foxtel now have Speed, and will be getting ESPN2 shortly.

Add both of those to my wish list

But as they say in The Castle "tell 'em he's dreamin' "

What i dont understand is why cant sky NZ be like sky uk as they all use the systems I have just looked at sky uk and it appears that they have 50 HD channels and over 400 channels to choose from plus they also offer 3D viewing to their HD full package customers.
I have asked sky NZ why they cant be like the uk but they tell me that they are completely different and nothing to do with BskyB but i some how still dont quite believe that as sky NZ use all the same equipment technologies and even carry the same logos. Knowing how the Uk works i would have said that if that Sky NZ was a different company to that of BskyB then BskyB would have sued for copyright by now so i still believe it is all part of the same company.
What I would like to see here is more selections of movie channels I mean we have Movies 1 and The repeat channel movies 2 but that is it, come to think of it sky movies and sky sport all have channels that just repeat what we have watched. Well thats fine but just add more channels with something different on to watch. Iwish they would get thier act together and not keep lagging behind the rest of the world.

how many people live in the UK ? and i believe sky offer services all over the UK and parts of Europe. SKY UK is dealing with a larger customer base and content requirements.. and sometimes easier access to some content

BSkyb have gone for the marketing strategy of offering customers the latest and greatest technology, whereas Sky NZ have been faffing about with thier "Happy place" ads.

Sky NZ Slogan - Your happy place
BSkyb Slogan - Compromise is not an option.

Also BSkyb have been up against other pay providers (Virgin Media, BT Vision, etc) and were forced to resell their Sports channels to other providers, whereas all Sky NZ haven't really had any competition.

Slightly differering point but I wish Sky NZ would market HD more, apart from seeing the (HD) in the guide and the last few lines of the MySky ad there's no real marketing scheme that makes general customers think "I need HD". Looking at other countries (Aus, UK) they have both SD and HD versions of the same channel available to customers, and the HD versions are heavily marketed.

All you need to do is watch the end of a sports match broadcast by BSkyb and they always talk about how it's on "Sky Sports 1 and in high definition on HD1". Just after the start of a game there's a pop up on screen listing all the Sky platforms you can use to watch the game (usually goes Sky Sports HD, Sky 3D, Sky Player, Sky Mobile TV...). On the Sky Sports News channel the channel mark (would call it a watermark but it's not transparent) rolls over every 10 seconds or so to say "Even better in HD".

I realise I'm not a advertising expert but it seems a bit pointless to me that Sky try to sell a service they seldom advertise.

Hey Jarrod
No your right Murdoch does own Most of sky Nz Prehaps he needs to send his guys out here to kick some butts in the sky office.
As for l43a2  the advertising of the HD box is still not enough to promote wide usage of it they would rather just advertise the sports channels which people already know they have sports channels just not so much in High def.

(1) Allowing the MySky box to output HD over component - like the American cable boxes already do - would be nice. Would greatly simplify the connection to a HTPC.

(2) Putting a 30 or 60 second ad-skip button on the remote.

The box is capable of both of these - it's just that Sky has disabled them. Making these changes would probably tip me over the edge of upgrading to MySky.
