I can't believe the absolute stupidity of who ever it was a Sky who has decided to download an update to our digital decoder 10 minutes into the Crusaders/Bulls game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

COME ON! Who would be so bloody stupid as to time an update for then!!!

Anyone else getting an update to their box at the moment?

Don't they stagger these updates over 24 hours or so where the update is done automatically sometime during that period? Ergo not intentionally done during the rugby, just bad timing.

is the updates for new features, security fixes or bug fixes? If it's bug fixes, why didn't they fix those bugs before they sold the set top box?

All I saw was the screen came up blank and them a progress bar appeared in the center of the screen and finally it started moving and slowed counted through to 100%.

All the time there were alphanumerics in the top left corner - 4 numbers separated by a /

When it finally got to 100% it sat there for a bit and then the decoder rebooted.

How long did it take? You would think schedule it between 1am and 5am or something similar!?

There is a scheduled software rollout cycle that typically means at least 2-3 updates per year.

I can relate to the ignorance of having no control over the software upgrade. I was watching the semifinals of the Australian Open and had live paused it for visitors for half an hour or so only to have a 'upgrade' shortly after getting back to the tv,Yell ruined that match! Made me a very unhappy tennis guyCry

One thing I've noticed with the Vu+ Duo when viewing TV1/2/3 HD channels with the MySky card inserted:

-  There is no EPG available for anything more than the current and next programme.

It means you can't schedule a recording on those channels unless it happens to be the very next programme.

Very strange!  On all other channels, the full 8-day EPG is available.

Apart from that, I am very happy with the Vu+ Duo.

Yes it is a pain. However you can schedule a recording. Just create a bouquet with the SD versions of the channels and use that bouquet with 8 day epg to find what you want to record. Then when setting the recording detail scroll to the channel, press the right arrow and you will be presented with your bouquets. Use one with the HD version of the channel in it and selkect the HD version. This will take you back to your recording setup with the HD version of the channel selected.

Can't use autotimers though......

Many Thanks for that tip!

I haven't gotten around to creating my own bouquets yet; there is just so much to explore with this box as I have only had it for a few days.  I'll give it a try when I get a chance.
