P1n3apqlExpr3ss:
Talkiet: The F1 is without fail the sport that gets dumped if there's contention for airtime with other live sports. Several of the practises and even one of the qualifying sessions have even been rescheduled due to NON-LIVE RUGBY REPLAYS.

Sky NZ confirmed just yesterday they haven't even figured out what commentary feed they are going to take this year and the Adelaide race is less than 2 weeks away...

Agreed, I remember qualifying being delayed from midnight to like 6am cause of the netball world champs, and it was a nothing game between two nothing teams.

And it's the Melbourne race...

Chuckle... Showing my age... And I've even been to the Melbourne race as well...

Is it Friday yet?

Cheers - N

tdgeek: scotteffone

My first phrase sounds a bit sharp when I re-read it, didnt mean it that way, just a question.

Nah I know what you mean! Pre race shows are a lot different to practice. A half hour show before the race will include all sorts of stuff, like team news, rule changes, technical articles etc. That's what I enjoy. I would always tune into the TV1 pre race coverage and even though it was a NZ produced show it was still done well.

The fact that Sky show practice and qualy (which would be retarded if they didn't) is great. But look at Sky, they have to fill the time slots somehow and paying more for this (if it wasn't their only option) benefits them too.

I like the practice commentary as it is interesting but all that condensed into a half hour pre race show is pretty mint.

Yes, I do recall some missing sessions in the latter part of last season. Can you advise the shows you watched, or will that be unkosher fior the Moderators?

Well Sky NZ... You are a bunch of idiots.

You have the live HD video feed and then proceed to put the BBC commentary over top of it. This is the feed the BBC record for use later. They STOP TALKING FOR MINUTES AT A TIME during qualifying at least.

What a brilliant way to show your contempt for a sport that isn't rugby, Cricket or netball. It must really hack you off no end you actually have to bother covering it.

Personally I signed up for the sports package for the 1 month for $1 deal and unless you actually bother taking the good, live Sky commentary I'll be cancelling it at the end of my $1 month.

As it is after 5 minutes I gave up and ran a dodgy online stream of the Sky UK feed just for the audio, whil watching the SKy NZ video feed.

Hint: If you have to have scrolling messages apologising for lack of commentary and saying it will restart in a few minutes, you're doing it wrong.

Also pretty disappointed with Sky. Especially considering how good the UK audio is. They should just go back to that. Found myself using Sky NZ on mute and having the stream for Sky UK on the laptop.

Heh - that's _exactly_ what I did... tomorrow I'll set up my amp to take the audio from my laptop instead of using the HDMI audio form teh sky box.

Thanks Sky NZ, for charging quite a lot of money for an embarassingly last minute, poor solution.

Cheers - N

I actually started pondering paying for a friend's Sky subscription in the UK just so I can use their official red button stream from Sky UK's website, and possibly a VPN to go along with it instead of Sky, which I frankly only use for F1.

I too was very disappointed with the commentary, especially for the pratices. They were using the 5 live radio feed which was a let down.

I do think the commentary improved for the qualifying however. I was in the UK for Nurburgring last year. The coverage was really nice, as well at the timing very convenient (I could actually watch the whole race live).

Found out that in Canada they are getting the BBC audio feed for all the races, even when the BBC isn't showing it live. I guess we will be getting the same. I may try to get another audio feed tomorow. I liked the 2011 commentry lineup my self.

Shindig: no isky feed for the F1
wow, seriass?!  That really is pretty crap.  The rugby league gets a delayed replay on Prime but not the F1.

DVBS2

Thats the 2nd head on a dual head sky dish LNB, you activate with the 22Khz tone enabled.

Not as far as I can tell.

Due to it being in melbourne and they are providing the uplink.

They are using an openbox? STB if that makes a different. Found reference on vetrun forums. Sadly I don't have a S2

I was actually impressed with the coverage from the race this evening. Much better than the practices.

Oh, and congrats to Jenson, definitely my favourite for this season!
