Sky wont sell them to me, There are plenty of sky+ remotes on ebay uk for ok prices but they have a few differences like a TV button where the does nothing AV button is on the mysky one and talk about codes and such for them. As I dont use the useless button, would they work ok for everything else or did sky get a custom IR command set for the mysky compared to others that look the same? Any yes, I have decided I am keeping the mysky and sky, just going to can the HD ticket after the olympics since its of no use without sports or movies which I dont have either of. Richard rich.ms

I bought a new Logitech Harmony 515 learning remote off TradeMe for $30.00. Once programmed up, it works my MySky well, and has the advantage of controlling other devices as well (TV, Stereo, Light dimmer (remote controlled), DVD, and even the electric heater (also a remote controlled model) etc etc). I use MySky from other TV's around the house connected by way of an RF modulator ($50 from Sky TV and I get to keep it), and controlled from the other rooms by infrared extenders, and Logitech Harmony 515 remotes. A word of warning however, not all infrared extenders work with MySky ( So I am told), so best check compatibility if you choose to get one That was my work around - and I am happy with the result and cost.

I dont really want to go for a universal, and I actually have a couple of harmonys sitting here unused because I gave up with the slothlike setup software and extremely poor responsiveness of the remote. The real mysky remote is a great remote, I just want more of them so I dont keep leaving the remote downstairs and having to go get it. Richard rich.ms

I find the Logitech 525 I have works better than the original mysky remote. It certainly has better range and no lag. I agree the remote setup leaves a bit to be desired. Perhaps just load the mysky as a device and don't bother with all the activity based stuff? It may depend what box you choose when going through the setup on the Harmony as to responsiveness. I have 2 and yes i am keeping them both but i got the extra one from the installer when i changed the box to the bigger mysky So if you know someone getting sky or upgrading maybe they could grab a spare remote for you

I also thought Sky did sell them. From memory they were $25. I asked on twitter a while ago and they said they didnt sell the mysky hdi ones, and didnt answer when I asked what happened if I "lost" the remote. I might take a punt on one off ebay. The mysky remote being a 2 cell one is really effected if you choose to put rechargables in it since the voltage drop is so great compared to alkalines. I really saw a drop in range with nicds in it. Thats when I tried some NiZn's which work great in it. Richard rich.ms

I got acouple of extra MyskyHDi remotes from Sky Mt Wellington a couple of years ago for $25 each....

Just ring up and say the remote has gone missing, and you need another one. Advise that you are OK with paying a small fee since you lost it, and ask them to pop it in the post. I would imagine that hundreds of customers lose or damage their remotes each year, so it should be a pretty streamlined and painless process. On the off chance that they are difficult about it, you point out that you will have to cancel your subscription if you don't have a remote to use the decoder. They won't want this.

its pretty standard , ring up sky say you have lost it, broken it or whatever, and they will send you a replacement and debit your account $25, i have done it 2-3 times when my remote has stopped working, usually i send them back to get my $25 back

We have Sky set up transmit to two additional TV's in our home, using an AV transmitter and two receivers. When we upgraded to MySky HD a couple of years ago, we needed two additional new remotes. I asked the installer guy about this and gave me a nod and a wink and sold me two new 'spare' remotes he had in the van for $10 each, cash.

I used to use a 2.4Ghz one (actually still connected), which worked but the picture degradation was more than I wanted.
