I am after feedback as to whether or not I am over reacting here. Also not sure where this should be posted.

As usual it is the time of the year that I update my smart phone and as such purchased a Galaxy S3 this time around as opposed to my 4 previous iphone models.

Again, as usual, today posted my iphone 4S on trademe for sale, and this year actually posted the pic with a copy of the local newspaper. Previous times trademe has always halted the trade until i have done this.

Late today, Trademe informed me that they had halted my auction until the following is done:

 -              A clear photograph of the above item with a recent New Zealand or Australian newspaper. If you don't have a newspaper handy you can use a recent flyer or 'junk mail' publication from a well-known New Zealand or Australian company. -              An image or scanned copy of a valid form of photo identification verifying your full name and date of birth.

  -              An image or scanned copy of a letter or utilities bill that you have recently received, verifying your current residential address

It should be noted that I completed trademe address validation a few weeks ago.

I have a perfect record with trademe, but consider sending all this information electronically a breach of my privacy.

Over reacting????????

cheers

Why a breach of your privacy? Have they disclosed information about you or something? I am sure it is all within their terms of service to reduce fraud, as there is a lot of it with that sort of device.

Personally I don't have a single utility in my name or any other verifiable addressed mail, except my trademe verification letter which I'd hardly keep in a drawer.

A far more reasonable request from trademe would be to ask for a photo showing the serial number, perhaps with a dated newsletter/publication.
