Hi, I need advice.

I am looking at buying an Xperia play from either of these stores. digitalmobile.co.nz or techbrands.co.nz

Techbrands import their phones, probably from Hong Kong. How will this affect me updating to Ice Cream Sandwich when it is available?

Apart from that they are $100 cheaper than digital mobile which I assume have NZ new phones.

I am already in a contract that I am very happy with so any discounts digital mobile can offer do not apply.

I tried buying an Xperia Play from Techbrands and it ended in disaster.

I ordered on the 9th of December and they still can't tell me where the phone is.

I cancelled and ordered from Expert Infotech. It was ordered on Wednesday this week and shipped on Friday so should be here Monday. Still waiting for a refund from TechBrands.....

Cheers, Matt.

I have searched both techbrands and digital mobile on geekzone, neither seem to have great reputations (nor did einfotech for that matter) but at least techbrands is based in Dunedin (where I live) so if I did have trouble with the phone at least I could give them a visit and get it sorted a lot easier.

However not receiving the phone is a problem that can't be resolved by me paying them a visit.

It seems good service is not something that comes cheap these days.

Can you tell me when you have received a refund? I ordered from TechBrands on the 28 Dec 2011 and till now it still hasn't come! So i ordered a refund yesterday.. and apparently because it is a new 'management' they've got, it takes more than a week! It usually takes a week before the new management they said... so not very happy about that!!

Looking at Pricespy Fair Buy has the Play for 399 and einfo for 417, both are stores I would buy from but only einfo cause their store is close to me. Email Fair Buy and I'll give you $20 if they don't reply within 24 hours. Email einfo and Ill give you $20 if they reply at all...

On the other note, Tech Brands is dodgy, all you have to do is check out this pricespy thread: http://pricespy.co.nz/forum/index.php?showtopic=794

Thank you for that, I was still considering them as they were local but after reading all that I'll stay well away.
