I've just discovered Xero and it looks awesome. I'm wanting to replace crappy old Microsoft Money, but can't justify $10 a month. Are there any plans for releasing a personal version of Xero in the future with less functionality?

$10? Don't you mean $50?

Xero is $49 per month for your first organisation. After that a non GST entity is $10.

We are hearing that a few people are using the current version of Xero for managing their personal stuff but we could provide a better experience. We are looking at a personal version and for the right business model. Nothing yet to announce.

Sounds good. I'd be keen to use a personal version of Xero as well.

To be honest, is there a market with a decent volume?

I hate to say it but dealing with consumers vs business is always a nightmare.  Consumers are more demanding, spend less, take up more support time Cool  I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it's the reality.

That is the issue. Consumers don't want to pay much for this. That's why we're not racing into the consumer sector and the business model is important. Our economics are different however as we already have most of the bits and some good business partnerships that may make it doable.

We do note that many small businesses are encouraged to blur their personal and business finances by things such as credit card reward points so a personal version is a useful front end processor for us.

Whoops I've said too much already :)

I would use Xero for a small fee for my own finances!

I've been using it for some time for my personal finances - I have tried a few mac apps, web based apps (Buxfer) but am happy using Xero, and as far as ease of access it can't be beaten. Automated feeds make keeping up to date easier, however it takes a bit more work to convert to a personal focus particularly when there are other halves and trusts to take into account.

With Buxfer for example you can automate the feeds via a firefox plugin, but this gets problematic sometimes, and the ability to make sense of the information is quite counterintuitive when you're used to business accounting.

When/if ASB credit cards can be linked up I'll be a very happy camper, and of course if there was a cheaper version with most of the functionality I'd be first on the list!

Yes please, another vote for a personal version.

We've been using Xero.com for the last two years now and I couldn't imagine using anything else. Xero is awesome and such a time saver. It really does make accounting easy. If you're contemplating switching to Xero, then stop contemplating and go and do it!

Just an update on this folks. You may now know that Xero has launched different prices based on transaction volume. They have also started a discussion here on Geekzone, so I'd like you guys to post any questions, comments on this on that discussion.
